Converting Power Into Confidence

Raul Iglesias, CTO and Co-Founder of Watt & Well is presenting at #EVS35

Over the last three years, we have focused our attention on developing bidirectional charging for smart grid (V2G, V2H, V2L) applications. Our innovative 11kW BMPU-R2 is the latest generation of our greatly renowned V2G converters.

As renewables make up a growing share of electricity supply, and as the recent dramatic growth in electric vehicles drives up electricity demand, European electricity grids will face congestion problems. In the Netherlands, for example, grid operators are having to switch off solar panels in certain neighborhoods during peak hours to prevent overloading.

This is where bidirectional charging can help. By charging EV batteries during the day, when the sun is shining and electricity supply from solar PV is the greatest, the batteries absorb the excess load, which can then be restituted to the grid later in the day when demand is greatest.

Prize winner of the France Relance program in July 2021, Watt & Well is increasing its production capacity and recruiting new engineers at its manufacturing site in Pertuis, Vaucluse, in the south of France.
