Relaunch of the consulting activity: 4 questions for the founders
Feb 3, 2026

From consulting to manufacturing, Watt & Well has evolved into a major player in power electronics. In this interview, Benoît Schmitt, CEO, and Raul Iglesias, CTO, discuss the relaunch of their consulting activity, their strategic priorities, and what sets their approach apart in demanding markets such as energy, space, and nuclear. A deep dive into a company where technical expertise and industrial experience combine to turn ideas into concrete solutions.

Watt & Well started as a consulting firm specialized in power electronics under the name Watt Consulting, before evolving into a manufacturer under the name Watt & Well. What motivated you to relaunch this activity?

Watt Consulting was born from the desire to fill a gap in the market: to offer an actor capable of combining technological expertise, agility, and understanding of demanding environments.

Between 2008 and 2025, our business model evolved from providing engineering services to selling equipment under the name Watt & Well. This transformation was accompanied by a deep reorganization, including the creation of a solid industrial division covering purchasing, supply chain, industrialization, and production.

Despite this shift toward products, we have always closely supported our clients to facilitate the integration of our solutions into their systems. Today, we sell not just a product but a complete solution, and consulting remains at the heart of our approach. Client feedback shows that this close support is highly valued.

Now, with a structured industrial division and expanded teams, we have decided to relaunch our consulting activity to offer a broader client base the advanced expertise of our engineers and PhDs. This initiative also reflects our desire to explore diverse markets and cutting-edge topics, allowing us to innovate differently and faster than in our traditional equipment business. Watt Consulting thus becomes the missing link for many industrial clients, offering a comprehensive and differentiating vision from initial concept to successful production.

Which Markets Represent Your Current Strategic Priorities?

Our consulting missions cover both our historical equipment markets — energy, electric mobility, and space — and more exploratory sectors such as nuclear and defense, providing clients with expertise, innovation, and reliability in demanding environments.
We focus on markets where performance, robustness, and safety are major strategic levers. New energies — hydrogen, storage, and smart grids — are at the heart of our priorities, as they require electronic solutions that are both high-performing, efficient, and secure.
Nuclear and space are also key sectors: their extreme environments demand full mastery of reliability, qualification, and durability. Furthermore, sectors where technological sovereignty and cybersecurity are critical require local, robust, and controlled solutions. In these areas, our consulting service stands out by offering “product-feasible” solutions from the design stage, meeting the strictest safety and compliance standards.

What Differentiates Watt & Well from Other Consulting Firms?

First and foremost, we are doers. Our consulting missions aim to:
  • Give shape to our clients’ innovations through proofs of concept and prototypes,
  • Innovate on their behalf to bring concepts to life,
  • Support them in integrating complete systems around power electronics challenges.

The key difference of Watt & Well lies in its dual DNA as both a manufacturer and a consultant. While others are limited to theory, studies, or recommendations, we provide hands-on expertise validated by our own developments and industrial successes.

Our consultants are the same engineers who design and qualify our products, ensuring advice based on direct operational experience in the most demanding environments. This “industrial consulting” approach places technical and economic feasibility at the heart of the process, combining expert design with a proven ability to deliver what we envision.

What Differentiates Watt & Well from Other Consulting Firms?

At Watt & Well, our dual expertise as a manufacturer and consultant creates a true synergy:
  • Manufacturer feeding the consultant: Our production activities constantly expose us to the realities of industrialization, testing, and reliability. This hands-on experience enriches our advice and ensures its feasibility.
  • Consultant enriching the manufacturer: Our consulting missions expose our teams to a diversity of applications and emerging needs, guiding our R&D and stimulating innovation.

This virtuous cycle between design, industrialization, and consulting allows us to offer solutions that are both visionary and immediately applicable, adapted to the most demanding environments.
